It’s Getting Warm Outside…Time to Grab Your Glass of Sauvignon Blanc and our NZ Travel Book!

We have talked about it for the last year here and here. At times, it seemed like it would never actually happen. But this weekend we finally put the finishing touches on our New Zealand e-book and officially uploaded it into the e-booksphere.

Our mothers were the first to get a copy (Happy Mother’s Day to two people who continue to inspire us to do bigger and better things) and now you too can be witness to our obsession enjoyment of wine travel.

Beyond Sauvignon Blanc: A Search for the Best Wine in New Zealand was born out of necessity and a little insanity. Sitting in my NGO’s office in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, I randomly sent an email to Dave saying that we should write a resource on wine and beer in New Zealand since I was having a hard time finding resources related to our interests for our upcoming trip. No more than two minutes later, I had an email with “YES!!!!!!!!” in my inbox, and we were off and running.

More than 40 wineries, 20 breweries and thousands of campervan kilometers later, we had a notebook full of information and an even greater interest in letting others know about the other side of New Zealand tourism. Everyone knows about the country’s beautiful places and abundance of adventure sports, but little is written about wine travel and it is a shame. The winemakers and cellar door staff we met were some of the most engaging and interesting characters we have interacted with through all our travels. They kept us on our toes and were infinitely more generous than we would have ever imagined. This labor of love only exists because of them.

The book includes stories of our travel through six wine regions, resources for exploring those areas, ideas on how to enjoy New Zealand wine in the U.S. and a few itineraries if you find yourself inspired to book a trip down under.

Beyond Sauvignon Blanc is now available in Kindle Edition at Amazon.com or as a PDF download. It can be yours for less than the cost of a glass of Sauvignon Blanc.

It is also just in time for International Sauvignon Blanc Day on May 16. So open your copy of the book, a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and join the party!
